Returning “like new” merchandise

“I recently purchased a Stealth 5 wood with a stiff shaft that was advertised to be in “like new” condition. On receipt, I couldn’t have been more pleased. The club head was still wrapped in plastic and the club for all practical purposes was new. I unfortunately experienced difficulty in creating enough club head speed to benefit from the stiff shaft and would have been much better with a regular flex shaft. Returning the club did not seem practical, since policy states that the return price is based on the condition of the club when they get it back. Obviously the plastic has been removed and the club face now shows signs of very moderate use (two rounds). The trade in price and return value is most likely considerably less than my purchase price. The lesson I learned is that the return policy for clubs purchased in like new or awesome condition creates difficulty unless you’re willing to absorb a considerable loss in the clubs value. I don’t know a solution to this issue, but it is worth noting if you purchase clubs in this original condition.”
