Reviews

Nice putter Not for me though

Review by joshua k, 4 months ago.

“I got this putter through the global golf utry program. The utry program is awesome. I got to try the putter out on a local putting green which is fun experience and realistic gauge of its functionality compared to putting in a store. My current putter, a ping sigma 2 tyne stealth straight stroke double bend fang mid mallet, is a good fit for me but I am always seeking more forgiveness as technology advances. This odyssey two ball ten triple track putter is very firm at impact and I use chrome soft golf balls which are a very soft golf ball. I prefer a soft impact when putting. On long putts I ended up right next to the hole pin high or very far past it. On short putts I made a few and blasted past the cup on most. I never ended up short. The greens I was putting on were slow to medium speed. The forgiveness of this odyssey mallet putter is high thanks to the shape. It puts forward roll on the ball immediately and comes off the face in a hurry. The putter head doesn’t feel overly heavy but I did struggle with distance control. The alignment aid is not a good fit for my eyes either. The colors and circles look busy and blurry to me at address. My current putter is matte black with a single white alignment line which I realize now I prefer over the two ball alignment option. I think the two ball ten putter would be better suited for someone with a short putting stroke because of how fast the ball comes off the face. I have yet to find a big mallet putter I like. I feel like I lack control and touch with them. I thought I would sink more 5-7 footers with this large mallet but that was not the case. Maybe with a different alignment system I would experience that. In my experience so far Mallets feels like a shotgun and my mid mallet feels like a sniper rifle. I still prefer my mid mallet Ping putter with the soft groove inserts much better. For someone with a slow or short putting stroke the two ball ten could be great. A shorter back stroke could mean less room for error.”
