“Best club I have played in my life and I have played mizuno irons for 20 years i tried the mp25 and jpx 900 tour irons before I made the switch to Taylormade p790 and if your looking for distance and playability and being able to work the ball both ways try the p790 irons especially if you you how to hit the center of the club and my misses go farther than other clubs they play a strong lift but launch high off the club face best club taylormade had made in a long time in my opinion my advice is get **** before you buy ”

hitting a rockball not a golfball

Review by 2111, 1 year ago.

“I was looking forward to the custom TM790's to arrive. Same evening they arrived I went to my range and was also hoping to play them the next day in a group. Spared no expense, recoil shafts, etc =which I love on my Mizuno JPX 900's that I have been playing all summer . LOVE THAT MIZUNO SET BTW . Nothing feels like the Mizuno's/900's and ball rockets off the face. Before them was playing Ping G set==also a fantastic set but wanted to try these TM's I had heard so much about. Had played the M-2 set a few years back and was not for me. Too much bulk , but wanted to give TM another shot. All i can say is a huge disappointment, I'm not sure what they filled these club heads with= some sort of polymer or something I think ,but I tell you this --it felt like I was connecting with a rock on almost every shot. DEAD off the face . I kept thinking I must be doing something wrong, because I could not believe how bad the feel was --and this was throughout the set . Thinking maybe I had a bad club in the bunch , I tried next iron after next , etc . and the flight--was like hitting line drives. Tried over and over to get some loft on these but was a struggle to get them up in the air .Best result out of all clubs was the PW ,but trust me , that's not saying much. I just could not get over how bad they felt when making contact , All i can compare it to was maybe the feeling of hitting a round rock off the club face . My friend owns the range and he came over and he thought they looked great, as did I , but told him how bad they felt , so he had to try -- He was not as kind in his review of them -lol Terrible is an understatement ,. Same thoughts, like a rock off of the face,. So, one more try with another friend we were playing the round with at the club next day, His skill level well above mine and plays the Web.com Tour, He Tours Callaway. He Tried the 790' 4,6,9,PW and he just couldn't get over how terrible they felt and hit, flight, distance all bad . So ,that was 3 out of 3 people all feeling same results on these 790's .I keep thinking maybe it was a faulty assembly ,something wrong maybe with the filling in the head, because it feels like its cement in there hitting off a rock-ball. I don't know , All I can do is reach out to TM and see if they can come up with an idea , but if not ,then these were the most overpriced "cement sticks" I ever got, and by far the worst clubs --In every way , If your thinking of buying ,please try them out fully someplace first. Best of luck. .S. ”
