If the shoe fits...Fitz will still complain about it. In his eyes, everything he wants to trade in - basically, everything and anything - is gold. (Newt says it's fool's gold.) Why he thinks he can pull the wool over F.G.'s eyes is anyone's guess, but F.G. just smiles - and lets Newt do the talking.
F.G.
Rumor has it that our friendly proprietor got the money for 3balls by besting Jack Nicklaus in a high-stakes Nassau. F.G. is also said to have won the national championships of 17 countries on four continents under various pseudonyms. But since no one has ever seen him play, no one knows the real story, because F.G. isn't saying. He just smiles, like he always does. What F.G. doesn't know about golf doesn't exist. He has never told a lie, but he has worn out many a vise changing the lie angle on clubs. F.G. named the shop 3balls.Bob
Despite what Newt says, Bob swears he didn't fall off a turnip truck. He may not be the flashiest guy, but he plays only the finest equipment. You'd think such a loyal customer would be treated with respect. You obviously don't know Newt. But Bob does. How can such a little golf ball always cut you down to his size?
Newt
Newt was the runt of a dozen-box litter. He is slightly out-of-round, and his cutting remarks always bend 3balls' customers out of shape. But nobody has managed to scuff him up yet - either it's his tough cover or the fact that he's got F.G. on his side. Word is that some fellow was ready to drown Newt in a water hazard when F.G. saved him. But that's the only thing Newt won't talk about.
3balls Management Team

"E Pluribus Unum" (Translation: Out of Many, One), in addition to being a serious-sounding Latin phrase printed on some U.S. currency, this also happens to be a pretty decent way of describing the 3balls Management Team. The 6 guys that have been at the center of things since the beginning come from very different backgrounds, but they are united in purpose. Sitting around the 3balls conference table you'll find an unlikely combination of characters (including a PGA Class A Professional, a couple MBA's, an ex-insurance adjuster and dot com pioneer, a financial wunderkind, and a former editorial cartoonist), all in rapt strategy discussion on how to take the business they've been building to the next level.

Kind of like NASA's jet propulsion laboratories, the 3balls Business Development Team is all about dreaming up ways to take things to the next level. And there's been a lot of precipitation from their brainstorms.

For example, did you know that 3balls is responsible for the creation and day to day operation of the PGA.com Value Guide, the National Standard for Golf Club Values used by millions every month?

3balls also facilitates trade-ins for 8,000 PGA-staffed facilities nationwide, as well as a chain of 350 plus sporting goods stores across the country, through the PGA Trade-In Network, which 3balls runs on a day to day basis.

3balls also helps charitable organizations (like Rally for the Cure, The First Tee and others) to raise money by providing them with an online golf club donation tool and managing their high profile charity auctions respectively.

At 3balls, half the fun is dreaming up ways to make a difference and benefit all the stakeholders in the wonderful game of golf - the other half is actually doing it.

Kind of like "hair and make-up" on a Hollywood set, the 3balls Sales and Merchandising Team makes sure every last detail is just right before presenting the star to the public. There's a lot of energy and creativity in this part of the building, with looking at all the cool stuff we have, figuring out where and how to best present it to our fellow golfers, putting together value-add offers, lighting and shooting the models and then, it's ACTION!... and on to the web.

There are a lot of eyeballs that see our products too! In addition to our direct website (www.3balls.com) 3balls is also one of the top two sporting goods sellers on eBay with thousands of items up for bid every day. 3balls Golf has been on eBay since 1998 with more than 100,000 unique feedbacks and a 100% positive feedback rating. Over the years we've been honored and recognized by eBay and others for creative merchandising.

There's nothing like the smell of diesel in the morning! Each day, out back on the 3balls loading docks, our 3balls Inventory Receiving Team greets the trucks as they roll in, filled with cool golf stuff from all over the country. There are boxes filled with top brand irons, drivers, wedges, putters, cool apparel, accessories and gadgets... sometimes it's a special purchase direct from the manufacturer, others are pro shop overstocks, salesman samples, demos, rental trade-ins and more. It's literally like Christmas morning every day at 3balls. Each box is opened, each club is inspected, cleaned as needed, re-gripped if necessary, organized and put in the queue that's headed to the next step..."Inventory Processing".

These guys and gals are the golf experts among the golf experts here at 3balls. They eat, sleep and breathe golf equipment. Each club that gets put up for sale online comes across the desk of one of these folks, where it is carefully scrutinized a second time, rated according to our 72 point grading process, and issued a corresponding condition grade.

Next, the team member proceeds to list and describe the features and benefits of the club to create an item description (often drawing from a combination of 3balls' proprietary database of product information and their own, near-encyclopedic knowledge of even the most obscure of brands and models).

Generally at some point in this process a lengthy and impassioned discussion will break out among two or more of the team members pertaining to some incredibly technical aspect of golf club engineering, trivia from the annals of history of a particular brand, or stroke by stroke analysis of the entire career of a given PGA Tour player known to use that model club.

An aptly named department here at 3balls. Our 3balls Customer Service Team is all about helping customers (usually related to golf in some way - though if you happen to get in touch with Andy, our senior customer service rep., the conversation could go in any number of directions including, but not limited to: classic episodes of "Alf", 80's rock bands, John Candy movies, Caddy Shack, current PGA Tour leader board reports, how to adjust a lie angle, etc...).

Sure, our Inventory Processing and Sales and Merchandising Teams work really hard to make it as easy as possible for golfers to buy online, but sometimes you just need to get in touch with a real live person. We understand and that's why we're here (during regular business hours Mon-Fri 9am-5pm EST). Our customer service team loves to help. The proof of that pudding is in the "100% positive feedback" rating 3balls has maintained (with over 100,000 unique feedbacks) on eBay since 1998...not to mention the kind thank you notes and occasional fruitcakes and chocolate chip cookies that come in the mail.

Like "cardboard crusaders" you'll recognize the members of our 3balls Shipping Team as the ones armed with bails of bubble wrap and 6-roll tape dispensers holstered at their hips. They need to be suited up for battle with the hundreds of packages getting shipped out every day. And each one gets the same level of attention to detail (high quality, appropriately sized box, abundant packing material, super secure tape and plainly marked address) so it's sure to arrive safely at its final destination.

And of course they would be lost without the 3balls Fulfillment Team who are as organized as they are busy! These guys and gals know the 300,000 cubic foot warehouse like the back of their hands. Their vital task is to locate and gather all of the clubs that have been ordered overnight and throughout the early part of the day, and get them over to the shipping team for packing. They work at maximum efficiency too, since at 3balls, every club that is ordered before 2pm (Mon-Fri) ships the same day!

This is a busy area of the building as it is, but to make things even crazier, this also happens to be where Dave keeps his not-so-secret stash of Bazooka gum, Tootsie Rolls and chocolate Kisses, so pretty much everyone in the company is in the shipping department at one point or another during the day!

As a "creative person", the author does not spend much time in the accounting department, given the fact that there can often be heard the distinct sounds of calculators and electric pencil sharpeners, two fairly reliable indicators of the presence of math.

That being said, anecdotal reports suggest that the work of the 3balls Accounting Team is absolutely vital to everything that gets done here at 3balls and includes many mysterious left-brained activities such as "Reconciling", "Invoicing", "Accounts Receivable", and "Accounts Payable".
